Back to School Digital Citizenship
They’re baaack! Ready or not another school year is upon us. Starting this year, Area 66 and the eMerge team will be making posts each month containing resources relating to different topics. These posts will be centered around a theme and show you various related tools. For August, the theme is getting started with technology in your classroom. As part of that, we are providing some tips and conversation started related to digital citizenship.

Classroom Routines and App Downloads
One of the most important things you can do as a teacher to ensure a smooth running classroom is to establish routines for the use of technology. Just like you spend time to teach things such as signing up for lunch, using the restroom and transitioning to specials, you should also teach tech procedures.
Procedures to teach:
- Picking up and putting away iPads
- Transitioning between rooms with iPads
- Do you allow students to download apps?
- What to do if they come across inappropriate website / app
- Getting and maintaining student attention
This month’s posting was developed with input from eMerge members Dustin Carlson and Matt Kock.
